Ernesto Balderas

Academic Enhancement Coordinator Assistant

SUU COSE Leadership Board STEAM Activities Coordinator

Assistant to the Southern Utah Regional FIRST Director

Former SUU COSE Leadership Board President

January 2013 - August 2014

I am a hard-working and self-driven young man committed to furthering the education of students from elementary to higher education settings.

As the Academic Enhancement Coordinator Assistant I help to plan, organize, and execute events both on and off Southern Utah University's campus.  These events include FIRST-centered events such as First Tech Challenge and First Lego League where I help to teach programming and construction of robots out of metal or legos.  I also help to organize the SUU STEAM Festival in which I recruited local organizations to elementary to middle school-aged children various STEAM principles.

As the Assistant I also have the responsibility of training and overseeing the efforts of the WMG COSE Leadership Board, a volunteer organization under the Office of Academic Enhancement.   Along with this responsibility I also compile notes of meetings between the Academic Enhancement Coordinator and the COSE Leadership Board along with any meetings the Coordinator may have with local school officials or executives on campus.  This position alongside being active in the COSE Leadership Board has given me the experience I need to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, and their parents in a professional manner.

In addition to my experience I am also a meticulously organized worker.  Being a Dance Performance Major has also increased my awareness of different viewpoints and ways of solving tasks making me a versatile but sound and effective decision maker.  Based on my experience and skills that I have acquired over the years I know I would be a perfect candidate for any position to which I apply.

My goal is to use the knowledge that I have gained at Southern Utah University and various Intensives to share my love of art with others, specifically those with disabilities.  Art forms allow individuals to express themselves in wholly unique ways that words may never be able to describe and I want to open that possibility for those with disabilities.
